IMTEC Mini Dental Implants become 3M ESPE MDI Mini Dental Implants.

ST. PAUL, Minnesota--3M ESPE has announced launch of a new brand for a line of small diameter implants—3M ESPE MDI Mini Dental Implants.

Formerly branded as the IMTEC Sendax MDI System, the products will be integrated into the 3M ESPE organization during the remainder of 2010.

The MDI procedure is a minimally invasive treatment that allows clinicians to immediately stabilize a patient's loose denture. The 90-minute flapless placement procedure can be learned in a one-day certification course.

The MDI system consists of a 1.8-, 2.1-, or 2.4-mm titanium alloy implant, and a retaining fixture that is incorporated into the base of a patient’s denture. To hold dentures securely in place, the o-ring in the retaining fixture snaps over the ball-shaped head of the implant. When seated, the denture gently rests on the patient’s gum tissue.

“The IMTEC MDI brand has been a global leader in small diameter implants for many years, and now, as part of 3M ESPE, we anticipate it will have an even greater reach among the dental community,” said Sean Regan, 3M ESPE marketing manager.

“As a denture stabilization system, our MDIs can help improve many patients’ quality of life, and we are excited by the development opportunities ahead with this type of innovative treatment.”
