RDH and Trident Xtra Care® Award to recognize outstanding community service by dental hygienists.

PARSIPPANY, New Jersey--There are approximately 150,000 dental hygienists in the United States today.(1) Unfortunately, these dental professionals often do not get the recognition they deserve for their vital work in promoting proper oral care among children and adults, especially in underserved populations.

That’s why Trident® gum and RDH® magazine are proud to introduce the RDH and Trident Xtra Care® Award, which is deigned to recognize the outstanding community service of dental hygienists who use Trident while helping to improve the oral health of people in need. By establishing this award, Trident and RDH magazine seek to show their appreciation to dental professionals who volunteer their services, as well as to encourage others to extend their care to the less fortunate in their communities.

How To Be Nominated
Registered dental hygienists, dental hygienist students, and retired dental hygienists can nominate themselves or others by logging on to www.dentistryiq.com/tridentcontest and describing in 125 words or less the service, educational project, or community involvement, and where the nominee made their impact (eg, schools, nursing homes, volunteer dental services, or other projects). Employees and family members of Sponsors, and Contest Advisory Board members and their families are not eligible to make nominations or to be nominated.

Nominations must describe how the nominee made Trident gum with xylitol or Trident Xtra Care with Recaldent® part of their patients’ daily oral care. Submit at least 1 and up to 3 photos that preferably include the nominee associated with their service project. Nominations will be accepted from September 24, 2010 to December 2, 2010. The prizes for the winner of the Trident Xtra Care Award will include a feature in the January 2011 RDH magazine editorial, an announcement in the December issue of the RDH E-Village newsletter, free Trident sugar free gum samples for 1 year for their dental practice, and a $500 American Express® Gift Card.
