Oral health care brand gives 5,000 dental flossers to help children in Collier County, Fla.
SAN DIEGO, California--Plackers has continued support of Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America program with a donation of 5,000 Plackers Micro Mint dental flossers to the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile of Collier County, Fla. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is part of a CHS Healthcare program supported in part by Ronald McDonald House Charities of southwest Florida. The flosser donation was made in association with a $20,000 Smiles Across America grant awarded by OHA to CHS Healthcare in Collier County for an elementary school-based dental sealant program. OHA’s monetary grant was also matched by the Walmart Foundation.The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a mobile pediatric office that delivers “Hope on Wheels” to needy children in the Collier County area. Plackers’ donation will be used to help give children some of the tools needed for proper oral care at home after they receive their preventative dental sealants on the Care Mobile.Plackers, Oral Health America team up to fight oral disease“The mission of the Care Mobile program is to improve the health of underserved children by providing quality healthcare services and follow-up,” said Dr. Kelley Johnson, dental director, CHS Healthcare. “Our programs rely on donations, and with our Care Mobile stocked with Plackers flossers, we can teach children how to floss properly and send them home with extra supplies.”Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease in America, and according to a recent survey, 17% of parents reported that they had a child who missed at least one day of school due to dental related pain or illness.“Children from all socioeconomic backgrounds should have access to the necessary tools for proper oral health care,” said Tom Barman, Plackers’ director of marketing. “Plackers is dedicated to providing children with convenient, quality oral care products to help kids keep their mouths healthy so they can concentrate in school."
