Ormco and AOA provide next generation engineering in Class II correctional device to maximize orthodontic efficiency and reduce treatment times.

ORANGE, Calif. — Ormco Corporation, a leading manufacturer and provider of advanced orthodontic technology and services, introduced the next generation of its AdvanSync™ Molar-to-Molar Class II correction appliance, the AdvanSync2.

The low profile orthodontic product, which achieves Class II correction without the need for patient cooperation, offers enhanced esthetics and durability while engineered to increase patient comfort and eliminate frequent compliance issues. The joint efforts of Ormco and AOA, the lab appliance division of Ormco, have created AdvanSync2 to serve as a versatile molar-to-molar solution that combines functionality with cutting-edge mechanics for efficient Class II correction.

Market research indicates that more than 50% of orthodontic patients are classified as Class II cases. With AdvanSync2 featuring 5-to-5 access during correction, Class II patients can be treated simultaneously with orthodontics. In permanent dentition cases it enables clinicians to achieve skeletal and dental corrections at the same time.

For clinicians that prefer double tubes for lower movement or use full crowns, Rollobands or UlitMax bands, AdvanSync2, supported by AOA, provides customized appliances designed specifically for each patient. For select cases, where molars are tipped or rotated, or instances of early permanent or late mixed dentition in patients without lower second molars, treatment can greatly benefit from patient-tailored tools that provide added control and precision.

“AdvanSync2’s compact design, which is 50% shorter than Class II alternatives, offers ultimate patient comfort and improved facial esthetics. Furthermore, the ability to perform necessary orthodontic treatment while the correctional device is in place allows orthodontists to achieve skeletal and dental corrections at the same time, reducing overall office visits,” said orthodontist Dr. Terry Dischinger.

Resulting from extensive clinical evaluation, AdvanSync2 integrates new cutting-edge technologies, while keeping core features of the original device. Advanced features include:

· Reinforced Spiralock Threading: Maximizes screw engagement to eliminate the need for costly retention agents
· Advanced Metal Injection Molding (MIM) Technology: Provides added durability for a robust appliance that delivers consistent and predictable results
· Upper and Lower Dual Screw Housing: For increased versatility throughout treatment
· Electropolished Mechanisms: Allows for fluid movement and smoother operation over the course of treatment
· Larger Eyelets: 16% larger eyeletsallow for more freedom of motion and movement of the mandible, increasing patient comfort
