DentalSmart selects ClearDATA for HIPAA-compliant cloud hosting

DentalSmart will serve as host for Dentrix Enterprise Practice Management Software on the ClearDATA Private Cloud at the company’s HIPAA-compliant datacenter.

PHOENIX, Arizona--ClearDATA Networks, a health-care cloud computing platform and service provider, has announced that DentalSmart will serve as host for its Dentrix Enterprise Practice Management Software on the ClearDATA Private Cloud at the company’s HIPAA-compliant datacenter.

DentalSmart, a dental practice with four locations in Charleston, Goose Creek, and Summerville, S.C., recently selected the Henry Schein Dentrix Enterprise practice-management solution after using a more limited software.

With Dentrix, the company decided to go directly to the cloud instead of investing in two to three servers and internal infrastructure at a cost of more than $25,000. This did not include support and maintenance costs.

ClearDATA implemented DentalSmart’s Dentrix Enterprise software into the cloud at its datacenter in an average amount of time of approximately two weeks.

“With the current trends in cloud hosting and well documented cost saving benefits, it seemed like an outdated workflow to purchase and maintain all of that server and storage equipment and software in house,” said Brian Schleifer, director of development, National Dental Systems, DBA DentalSmart.

“We were looking for a more progressive architecture model and to outsource as much as possible. ClearDATA came highly recommended by our practice-management vendor, as well as other sources in the industry for its exclusive health-care focus and HIPPA compliance expertise.”

ClearDATA will be host for three DentalSmart locations with Dentrix Enterprise by the end of July. A total of seven locations should be hosted by the end of 2012. Additionally, because the cloud model is efficient, DentalSmart plans to begin the hosting of its email servers, Web site servers, accounting, internal storage, and other day-to-day functions in the ClearDATA cloud, too.
