There's more to curing sleep apnea than CPAP

Sept. 26, 2012
New device helps those who suffer from sleep apnes
A study published in Sleep Magazine found that as many as 92% of middle aged men and 83% of middle aged women may have undiagnosed moderate-to-severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends oral appliances and CPAP as the No. 1 treatments for mild and moderate sleep apnea. The CPAP industry generates $4 billion each year, but of those patients who try CPAP, 50% to 75% reject the mask, and are searching for an alternative.

ATG/Space Maintainers announces the availability of Apnea Guard, a prefabricated oral diagnostic tool for sleep appliance therapy.

Simple and easy to operate, the Apnea Guard systematically determines the optimal protrusive setting for a long-term custom sleep appliance. It is capable of advancing the mandible in 1 mm increments and is FDA-cleared for up to 29 nights of in-home use. Fitting the Apnea Guard requires PVS impression material common to most dental offices.

The Apnea Guard Combo Kit accommodates a full range of arch widths and is available in three vertical sizes ( 5.5 mm, 6.5 mm, 8 mm).
