U.S. News published their list of the 100 best jobs in America in 2013, and guess what made it to the top? Being a dentist.
Each profession’s score is calculated from several components: 10-year growth volume and percentage, salary, employment rates, job prospects, stress level, and work-life balance. Some things were weighted more heavily than others (median salary accounted for 30% of the score while the work-life balance accounted for 5%).
Dentistry earned a score of 8.4, while being a registered nurse came in close second at 8.2. The top 10 careers were in the health care or IT fields – dental hygienists wrap up the top 10 list with a score of 7.7. Down the list at number 46, dental assistants score 6.4.
