NEW YORK CITY (PRWEB) February 22, 2013 – According to dental hygiene professional Christine Hovliaras, there is much untapped opportunity for professionals to grow in the dental hygiene industry.

With her new series of textbooks, she has set out to educate both students and seasoned dental hygiene professionals on the industry itself and the multitude of opportunities within it.

A 3-volume textbook series and faculty guide for excellence in the dental hygiene field, SAVVY SUCCESS: Achieving Professional Excellence and Career Satisfaction in the Dental Hygiene Profession is meant to empower dental hygienists in many roles, career avenues, clinical competencies, ethical responsibility and career success in the profession.

“Through SAVVY SUCCESS, I want to empower dental hygienists to know that the profession offers opportunities in many roles and career avenues,” says Hovliaras. “Hygienists play a very important role in providing care and services to patients and the community through their education and training.”

Pulling from 28 years of experience as a dental hygiene professional, as well as the insights from over 45 other hygienists, Hovliaras shares her inspiration for going into the profession, ways in which she has helped her patients, improved her oral care practices and what qualities and practices are required to be successful in the dental hygiene field. Throughout the series, professionals and opinion leaders throughout the industry contribute chapters on clinical competencies, issues and trends in the dental hygiene profession.

“There are several textbooks for dental hygienists that are used in educational programs across the country, but I felt that students and practicing dental hygienists needed more information on the professional roles and career opportunities in the industry,” says Hovliaras. “I felt it was important to personally interview hygienists from to across the country and add their insights to my own.”

Through the books, Hovliaras hopes to reinforce that dental hygiene is a necessary and important career path.
