Editor's Note: Every week, Larry Emmott, from EmmottOnTechnology.com, posts a special feature called "Dental Art." We've decided to feature it regularly on DentistryiQ.

“Navy Dentist”

CAD/CAM technology now used on Navy ships

Nice image, but it is so wrong. Any dentist looking at this will instantly see that it is off in some way. What is it? No finger rests. A real dentist would never hold a mirror like this. Look at many of the commercial dentist images you see in general media and it is obvious the “dentist” is a model by the way they hold the instruments. They almost never have proper finger rest positions, but the mirror and explorer are waving out in space, as in this painting. Rant over.

Dental art is anything that depicts teeth or dentistry in an interesting or artistic way. If you have any suggestions for future Dental Art pieces please send them to me or give me a link. Thanks.

This week's piece can be found in theDental Art section of the EOT blog.
All the Dental Art images can be found on Pinterest.
