Ask Dr. Christensen: Can you successfully bleach striated tetracycline stains?

July 7, 2014
Dr. Gordon Christensen shares his experience and insights with his peers, this week regarding tetracycline stains.

Dr. Gordon Christensen answers questions from readers and offers his answers based on research, dentists' opinions worldwide, and personal observation.

Dr. Christensen shows an example of tetracycline stains and asks, can you do veneers on these teeth with the graduated stains? Dr. Christensen did, but not very satisfactorily. He said he had to make the veneers absolutely opaque to make them work. He asks, what would be a better situation? He shows an example in this video, and concludes that veneers are out of the question because you can’t get enough thickness there. So, the answer is crowns, which Dr. Christensen said will serve for many years, as in the example shown in the video.
