The Foundation for Dental Laboratory Technology (The Foundation or FDLT), recently announced the five winners of the 2014 Keystone Grant. They are New York City College of Technology, CDL – Brooklyn, New York; Pasadena City College – Pasadena, California; LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation – New Orleans; Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne – Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Erie Community College – Orchard Park, New York.
The FDLT created the Keystone Grant Program in 2011. It was developed to support accredited educational institutions with a dental laboratory technology program, or those accredited educational institutions who wish to add a dental laboratory technology program. To date, over $85,000 has been provided to schools through the Keystone Grant. The Foundation announced that the 2014 winning organizations receive a total of $35,000.00 of financial assistance to support their programs. In choosing the grant recipients, the Foundation considers the programs in which the organization is engaged, the constituencies it serves, the services it offers, its accountability and fundraising practices, and the level of local community support it attracts. This annual, competitive, grant selection process awards winners based on submitted materials that include planned usage of funds, current program outline, current funds being received, and efforts being made on behalf of the program. This may include continuing education for instructors, new equipment, or new materials. Grant recipients may reapply in the future, as long as a report detailing use/impact of the grant monies is provided with the application.
