New manual, power, and light-up toothbrushes featuring characters from Power Rangers, Lalaloopsy, and How to Train Your Dragon 2 will be unveiled at the Chicago Dental Society’s 150th Midwinter Meeting.

Sunstar Americas Inc., an oral health-care company and the makers of the Gum brand of oral care products, is launching three new lines of children’s toothbrushes, featuring characters from Saban’s Power Rangers, Lalaloopsy, and DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2 at the Chicago Dental Society’s 150th Midwinter Meeting. Available to dental professionals by February 2015, these new toothbrushes will expand the Sunstar Gum children’s portfolio and join the full line of GumCrayola toothbrushes, toothpaste, and flossers.

“With this new line of manual, power, and light-up character toothbrushes from Power Rangers, Lalaloopsy, and DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2, dental professionals and parents will have new fun characters to help encourage children to brush regularly and build healthy oral care habits,” said Matt Moon, the senior manager of commercialization at Sunstar Americas Inc.

The Gum Power Rangers line, based on Saban’s iconic franchise, features the Red, Blue, and Black Power Rangers Dino Charge. The toothbrushes are offered in two styles: a battery-operated power toothbrush with oscillating bristles and a light-up toothbrush that features a one-minute flashing timer light with Sunstar’s patented suction-cup-integrated activation switch to teach children to brush for one minute on each half of their mouths. Kids will relate to the design of the heroic Power Rangers, which will morph tooth brushing into an exciting adventure. The Power Rangers power toothbrushes will be available for the suggested price of $4.99 to $6.49, and the light-up toothbrushes will be available for the suggested price of $2.80 to $3.40.

The Gum Lalaloopsy line is Sunstar’s first line of toothbrushes designed specifically for girls. These favorite Lalaloopsy doll characters are available in both manual and light-up toothbrushes. The manual toothbrush, with a built-in tongue cleaner and a unique, easy-to-hold handle shape, features either Tippy Tumbelina, Crumbs Sugar Cookie, Spot Splatter Splash, or Mittens Fluff and Stuff. Girls will delight in the light-up toothbrushes, which are designed with the same features and functions as the Gum Power Rangers light-up toothbrush and feature characters Blossom Flowerpot, Pillow Featherbed, and Bea Spells-a-Lot. The Lalaloopsy toothbrushes are available for the suggested price of $3.60 to $4.10 for a twin pack of the manual toothbrushes and $2.80 to $3.40 for the light-up toothbrushes.

The Gum DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2 manual toothbrushes come with built-in tongue cleaners and easy-to-hold handles that even the smallest hands can use to brush effectively. Children can choose between three favorite How to Train Your Dragon 2 dragons: Toothless, Stormfly, and Meatlug, as well as from their respective riders, Hiccup, Astrid, and Fishlegs. DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2 toothbrushes are available for the suggested retail price of $3.60 to $4.10 per twin pack.

All three character lines offer soft, raised inner bristles on the Dome Trim brush head design, which provides exceptional plaque removal while also cleaning below the gumline. The suction-cup base holds the toothbrush upright, helping to keep bristles clean and reduce counter clutter.

“We designed this dynamic line of licensed toothbrushes to create an exciting and engaging brushing experience for children with a little help from their favorite characters,” said Moon.
