Director's Message: 'Tale of Two Hygienists' podcasts

Feb. 9, 2016
The podcasts, “A Tale of Two Hygienists” (formerly Off the Cusp Podcast) started as an idea and a simple discussion between two hygienists Michelle Strange, RDH and Andrew Johnston, RDH.

Have you ever had an idea that originally might have seemed too “big” or “crazy,” yet wasn’t?

The podcast, “A Tale of Two Hygienists”(formerly Off the Cusp Podcast) started as an idea and a simple discussion between two hygienists Michelle Strange, RDH and Andrew Johnston, RDH. They dreamed of giving back to the profession by hosting “conversations” that tackle life as a dental hygienist with humor and zeal. Well, it went from dream to reality, because recently I was honored to have an open, fun, and real conversation with Andrew Johnston and Michelle Strange during one of their now weekly podcasts.

Here is what a listener sent me after listening to the podcast, “I just listened to your podcast, ‘Getting Honest with Kristine Hodsdon, RDH MSEC.’Bravo, you brought that message so well … I listened and was talking to myself (and crying at times) about the true failure of our profession. You allowed the listener to look inside a bit without seeing too much and closing off. One of the best podcasts I’ve heard in a long time. Thank you, Carrie, RDH.” Click here to listen.

“A Tale of Two Hygienists” brings something new to the podcast world by interviewing professionals:

  • Who have branched out of the clinical setting
  • In roundtables where hygienists can weigh in on a specific topic
  • engaging in discussions on ways to progress your career and renew excitement
  • allowing concerns within the profession to be addressed

So often, the daily hustle can get us down. But “A Tale of Two Hygienists” wants to be with you on your drive home to lift you up with humor and a boost of weekly enthusiasm. I invite you to subscribe via iTunes, Stitcher, Libsyn, and many other podcasting apps. To make it easy, below are some of the links:

Once you listen to my podcast, I’d love to hear who or what is your “toughest critic." (Many are saying it’s their mothers. Ha-ha!)

Warm Regards,
Kristine
