Sunstar Americas announces recipients of the 2016 Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction

The 2016 Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction recipients were announced in a joint announcement by Sunstar Americas, Inc., and RDH magazine.
The 2016 Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction recipients include California legislative advocate, a Montana-based dental instrument innovator, a Florida-based proponent of oral cancer screenings, and a Wisconsin-based oral myologist, according to a joint announcement by Sunstar Americas, Inc., and RDH magazine.

The four award recipients will be honored during an award ceremony at the RDH Under One Roof conference in National Harbor, Md., on July 29. The recipients are:

  • JoAnn Galliano, MEd, RDH, of Alameda, Calif.
  • Susan Wingrove, RDH, BS, of Missoula, Montana
  • Debra Zafiropoulos, RDH, of Hobe Sound, Fla.
  • Corinne Jameson-Kuehl, RDH, BS, OMT, of Hartland, Wis.

Sunstar and RDH have been honoring multiple dental hygienists with the award each year since 2002.

Galliano was very involved with the creation of the Dental Hygiene Committee of California (DHCC), the state’s regulatory authority for dental hygienists. She is currently the legislative consultant for the California Dental Hygienists’ Association and an educational consultant for the DHCC.

Wingrove is the co-designer of the Wingrove Implant Titanium set, ACE probes, and Queen of Hearts instruments. She is the author of “Peri-Implant Therapy for the Dental Hygienist” textbook, and travels internationally to teach health-care providers about implant maintenance.

Zafiropoulos, who formed the NationalCancerNetwork.org, to raise awareness of prevention, progress, screening and referrals for all affected by a cancer diagnosis, has delivered more than 2,300 hours of continuing education programs, including many devoted to HPV and oral cancer awareness.

Jameson-Kuehl founded her business, OMT of Wisconsin, to assist patients find solutions to oral dysfunctions caused by sleep disorders and other health connections. She coordinates interdisciplinary treatment through a variety of health-care professionals.

In addition to the RDH Under One Roof conference, the four 2016 recipients of the Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction will be profiled in the September 2016 issue of RDH magazine.
