Dentsply Sirona’s Intego Treatment Center
During the recent Chicago Midwinter meeting, Dentsply Sirona announced that it would be expanding its treatment centers product range with an integrated preventive care concept. This summer, the Cavitron built-in ultrasonic scaler will be available with the Intego line of Treatment Centers. The Intego and Intego pro ambidextrous models supports a variety of treatment concepts through two different variants:
Intego is additionally configurable with special packages and practical equipment options. For optimal patient communication, the unit can be equipped with a 22-inch full-HD monitor, and an autofocus intraoral camera.
Intego is configured for preventive care treatments with features such as a double articulating headrest, external device connection, multifunctional syringe, maintenance-free electric motors, LED operating lights and, coming soon, the integration of Cavitron.

MouthWatch’s Teledent
MouthWatch, LLC, a dental health startup, showcased elements of its TeleDent system at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting. TeleDent is a turnkey teledentistry platform that now includes an intraoral camera.
Brant Herman, CEO of MouthWatch, LLC, said company representatives discussed “with dentists, public health advocates, and dental hygienists how teledentistry is going to be a significant improvement to both the business of dentistry, and to increasing access to care across many demographics—from children to seniors, regardless of patient location."
Dental professionals were able to get hands-on with the MouthWatch ExamTab and the MouthWatch Intraoral Camera. MouthWatch also released a new Android version of their ExamTab software, allowing for intraoral photography using tablets and smartphones.
"In staying true to our mission for affordable, flexible dental imaging solutions, developing an Android version of ExamTab was the next logical step. Now, dentists and hygienists can easily add intraoral imaging that improves patient education and case acceptance to Android tablets and smartphones," Herman said.

Biolase’s Waterlase Express
Biolase, Inc. recently announced today that its fifth-generation Waterlase Express all-tissue laser system received 510(k) clearance for commercial distribution from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Waterlase Express represents the newest addition to the company’s Waterlase portfolio of Er,Cr:YSGG all-tissue lasers.
Biolase Chief Technology Officer Dmitri Boutoussov, PhD, added, “When we began this project, our goal was to create a new version of Waterlase that would be a much smaller, simpler, more reliable and cost-effective system, while still carrying all the benefits of powerful Waterlase laser technology.”

Crosstex’s Axess
Crosstex International, Inc. and its subsidiary, Accutron, Inc., recently announced the launch of the Axess Mask, a single-use, lightweight, and low profile nasal mask that is contoured to form fit comfortably over the patient’s nose.
“Crosstex is excited to be able to offer new, innovative solutions that address patient comfort as well as patient safety. The Axess Mask and scavenging circuit offer relaxation for the patient while giving the clinician better access to the oral cavity,” said Gary Steinberg, president of Crosstex International.
Axess Masks offer visual assurance to the clinician as fogging appears in the translucent mask when patients breathe through their nose. The contour around the mask perimeter provides a nasal/facial seal that minimizes ambient nitrous oxide in the operatory and gas flow into the patient’s eyes—all without the use of tape or uncomfortable cannula protruding into the patient’s nostril.
The accompanying low profile scavenging circuit easily retrofits to most scavenging circuits and can be steam-sterilized and reused, making it both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
Axess Masks are available in three sizes and two scents—mint and bubblegum. A clear, unscented version also is available for scent-sensitive patients.
