DE's Business Lab video, Part 2: How to calculate dental practice overhead

March 13, 2017
Overhead is an important and often difficult part of running a dental practice. In this video series, DE's Business Lab, Dr. Chris Salierno wants to help dentists learn more about overhead and how to manage it.
Chris Salierno, DDS, Chief Editor, Dental Economics

The topic of overhead does not need to be overwhelming for dentists. This informative series of videos will help dentists take on overhead in bite size pieces and manage it effectively.

In Part 2 of DE’s Business Lab: Overhead, Dr. Chris Salierno discusses how to calculate overhead. Dentists can start by looking at the profit and loss statement. In simplified terms, revenue minus expenses equal income.

Dr. Salierno shows an example of an income statement, and recommends that dentists receive one at least twice a year. He then dissects and explains the income statement, and what dentists should be watching for.

In upcoming videos Dr. Salierno will analyze some income statement to determine what dentists could do differently when handling their finances.
