Thanks to the work of the Center for Research and Education in Technology (CRET), there is increasing collaboration between dental schools and the dental industry. In this interview, CRET President Don Hobbs discusses the organization's plans to open additional technology centers in 2017.

Since its founding in 2004, the Center for Research and Innovation in Technology (CRET) has worked to close the technology gap between dental schools and the dental industry. The organization has already helped establish two state-of-the-art technology centers at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Plans for expansion to additional universities—including the West Virginia University School of dentistry—are on the horizon.

In this interview from the 2016 Greater New York Dental Meeting, new CRET President Don Hobbs (who is also the vice president of equipment sales for Henry Schein) talks about CRET's latest initiatives. Hobbs is beginning his first year as president, a position formerly held by CRET's founder, Edward Rossomando, DDS.

For background on CRET, read "Dental Disruption 101," which takes a comprehensive look at the complex relationship between dental schools and the dental industry.
