Philips' domestic appliances, personal care division consolidate

Effective April 1, sales, marketing and operational functions in North America will unite into one unit located in Stamford, Conn.

The Domestic Appliances & Personal Care (DAP) North America division of Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG) recently announced that, as of April 1, all of its sales, marketing and operational functions in North America will unite into a single unit located in Stamford, Conn.

This new organization, which includes Philips, Sonicare, Norelco and Senseo brands among others, enables the Philips DAP division to continue to grow sales while better focusing on customers and providing a more streamlined point of contact for a diverse portfolio of innovative products.

Robert Baird, previously president and chief executive officer of Norelco, will lead the new Philips DAP organization as president and chief executive officer of Philips DAP North America.

Jim Judge, formerly senior vice president and general manager of Philips Oral Healthcare North America, will report to Baird as senior vice president and general manager of sales and service of Philips DAP North America.

In this role, Judge is responsible for retail and professional sales and services for all Philips DAP products and will oversee numerous key executives including John Tribble, vice president of dental sales.

Philips Domestic Appliances & Personal Care (DAP) includes the Shaving & Beauty, Oral Healthcare, Home Environment Care, Food & Beverage and Consumer Health & Wellness lines of business. The division manufactures and markets shavers, electric toothbrushes, women's beauty and healthcare products, as well as domestic appliances around the world.

Philips enjoys the number one global position in electric shavers with the Philishave (international) and Norelco (USA) brands and is the U.S. market leader in rechargeable electric toothbrushes under the Sonicare brand. The DAP division employs nearly 8,000 people in 60 countries.
