Clinpro 5000 prescription-strength toothpaste delivers more fluoride, helps strengthen enamel, and helps reverse white spot lesions better than a conventional 5,000 ppm prescription fluoride toothpaste and a 900 ppm fluoride topical creme that contains calcium phosphate.
This formula is a breakthrough in anti-cavity toothpaste technology. Clinpro 5000 contains fluoride, as well as calcium and phosphate, which are components naturally found in saliva. This proprietary formula integrates these components, enhancing, rather than compromising, the product's performance.
During the manufacturing process, a protective barrier is created around the calcium allowing it to coexist with the fluoride ions. As the toothpaste comes into contact with saliva during brushing, the barrier breaks down and makes the calcium, phosphate, and fluoride readily available to the tooth.
The tooth naturally absorbs these components, helping to prevent the initiation and further progression of demineralization, allowing remineralization to occur.
The development of this 5,000 ppm fluoride and tri-calcium phosphate formula is the result of a relationship between 3M ESPE and Indiana Nanotech, LLC scientists. 3M ESPE enlisted caries researchers to become part of the development team.
Key players included Dr. George Stookey, a pioneer in caries research and contributor to developing the world's first clinically proven fluoride toothpaste, Dr. Robert Karlinsey, an emerging leader in developing dental and biomedical technology applications, and the 3M ESPE Preventive Research Team led by Aaron Pfarrer.
