Triodent debuts the Griptab

Sept. 10, 2009
Product provides way to hold and place crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays.

Griptab is the latest product from Triodent, makers of the V3 Sectional Matrix System.

The Griptab is a small handle that is adhered to crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays. The light-cured, flexible adhesive is strong and moisture-resistant, but at the same time is cleanly detached from the restoration at the end of the procedure.

By having a handle on the restoration, the dentist has a reliable grip. This gives him or her control over the process.

Griptab can bring the following benefits to restoration work:

* An adhesive resistant to Silane and moisture
* Easy pick-up
* Secure grip
* Accurate placement
* Passive and controlled release
* The ability to pick up and put down a restoration multiple times

Dr George Freedman, founder and past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and a founder of the Canadian Academy for Esthetic Dentistry, was one of the first dentists to try the Griptab.

"It worked like a charm," Dr. Freedman said.

Triodent CEO Dr Simon McDonald says Griptab is beneficial not just for dentists but also for dental assistants and lab technicians.

"The sheer awkwardness of handling restorations can be frustrating and there is always the risk of dropping them, which is why we came up with Griptab, a simple solution to the problem," Dr McDonald said. "We've used Griptab many times already and it works brilliantly. We're very excited about it."

Griptab comes in three sizes to handle any type of bonded or cement restoration:

* Small: for inlays and veneers
* Medium: for inlays, onlays, veneers and crowns
* Large: for crowns
