Veraviewepocs panoramic X-ray unit from J. Morita

Veraviewepocs is a high-speed, panoramic X-ray available as a film or digital system with a cephalometric option. It offers a panoramic scan time of just eight seconds, resulting in reduced patient radiation exposure. Both the film and digital systems produce brilliant, contrast-rich images for accurate diagnosis. Additionally, the digital model features a high-resolution CCD sensor with a CsI scintillator. CsI is more efficient than standard scintillators; light scatter is reduced, resulting in a sharper image. With several automatic functions, Veraviewepocs is easy to operate; it is self-calibrating and no adjustments are necessary once it is connected to power. With a full range of panoramic and cephalometric imaging capabilities, it is the ultimate diagnostic tool. Other features include auto focus, auto exposure (film), superior cassette system, uniform magnification (image layer center), plus easy and accurate patient positioning.

i-CAT™ cone beam imaging system with 3-D imaging technology

Imaging Sciences International, Inc. is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of state-of-the-art dental and maxillofacial radiography products. Its marquee product, the i-CAT, is a cone beam imaging system that utilizes advanced 3-D imaging technology, providing dentists with more accurate views of oral and maxillofacial structures, including impacted molars, bone structure, and tooth orientation. This leads to the most accurate treatment and predictable outcomes for surgical procedures. The i-CAT is dramatically advancing patient care by producing the most popular, most cost-effective, and ultimately most convenient open-environment, in-office scans with considerably less radiation for patients. Dental specialists are now able to prepare accurate treatment plans using the 3-D images and provide their patients with a visual diagnosis to increase their understanding of treatment options. ISI is ISO 13485;2003 and 9001;2001 certified. For more information, visit www.imagingsciences.com.

Safe, accurate implant planning and placement

The technology used to help reconstruct the face of King Tut is now being used to help ensure safe, accurate implant planning and placement. BMi - Biomedical Modeling Inc. - created a model of the boy king’s skull from a CT scan. This was used as the basis for reconstructing Tutankhamen’s face. Using the same technology and CT scans, BioDental models aid in visualizing and planning dental implants. They enable the fabrication of drill guides that can significantly reduce chair time while ensuring implant positioning, measurements, and angulation.

Made from translucent acrylic, BMi BioDental models clearly show bone structure and density, soft tissue, teeth and roots, and sinus/maxilla features. The inferior alveolar nerve channel is highlighted in red, reducing the risk of nerve injury. The models provide important coordination between surgeon and restorative dentist with effective visualization and communication to help assure a positive outcome, and they aid in the fabrication of immediate-load interim restorations. BioDental models also are useful in educating patients, helping them understand their implant procedure.

Unlike 3-D computer modeling, no software investment is required by the dentist. BMi works directly with CT providers to translate patient scans into an accurate model of a patient’s mandible or maxilla using a laser and photopolymer resin to create an accurate stereolithographic BioDental model.
