The leading manufacturer of natural personal wellness products becomes the only manufacturer to carry an entire line of ADA-accepted natural fluoride toothpaste.

Toms of Maine, the leading manufacturer of natural personal wellness products, announces an industry milestone. With Fridays announcement that the American Dental Association (ADA) has bestowed its Seal of Acceptance on Toms Natural Baking Soda Fluoride Toothpaste, Peppermint and Gingermint flavors, Toms of Maine becomes the only manufacturer to carry an entire line of ADA-accepted natural fluoride toothpaste.

Just six months ago, Toms Natural Toothpaste for Children, Silly Strawberry and Outrageous Orange-Mango flavors, earned the ADA Seal. Toms is the only Children's Natural Toothpaste to bear the ADA Seal, the standard for toothpaste safety and efficacy.

Consumers can now select from the following Toms of Maine ADA-accepted flavors and categories:

* Cinnamint, Spearmint, Wintermint and Fennel

* Peppermint Baking Soda, Gingermint Baking Soda

* Childrens Silly Strawberry, Childrens Outrageous Orange-Mango

"We are thrilled that the American Dental Association has bestowed its Seal of Acceptance on our Natural Peppermint and Gingermint Baking Soda Toothpastes. This designation is now carried by our entire line of fluoride toothpastes. People no longer have to choose between their desire for a delicious natural toothpaste and their demand for an efficacious one. With our broad, ADA-approved selection, Toms gives them both, and without testing on animals" says Tom Chappell, company co-founder and president.

In 1995 Tom's Research & Product Development Team, together with the scientific community, developed a new protocol that satisfied both the ADA's fluoride testing criteria, as well as the company's own policy against animal testing. Tom's became the first company to conduct an intra-oral remineralization test on human subjects as a substitute to animal testing. This test has become the companys standard for evaluating product quality and efficacy.

Toms trademark is its use of exotic natural flavors (such as ginger, mango and fennel) and its use of minimally processed natural ingredients. For example, the company uses naturally sourced sodium monofluorophosphate as the active ingredient providing cavity protection, and nahcolite, a naturally occurring form of baking soda, in its Baking Soda Toothpaste.

Since its inception in 1970, Tom's of Maine has remained committed to producing safe, effective personal care products without using artificial flavors, dyes, sweeteners, or preservatives. The company's products are biodegradable and are packaged with respect for the environment.
