An attendee at the RDH Under One Roof conference earlier this month shares what meant the most to her.

Read It and Weep for the 2008 UOR

It was great to meet so many of you at RDH Under One Roof conference, and to see so many old friends as well. I am only sorry there wasn't more time to meet all of you. There is so much to be said about the friendships we all make through this great site at AmyRDH.com, and having the ability to finally meet those we have befriended and share so much with. I know many have said it before, but thank you, Amy Nieves, for this site. It has brought a sistership together that might have otherwise never existed and flourished.

I also want to thank all of you for taking the time to introduce yourselves, to talk and share advice. So many of you took your personal time to share your knowledge and experience with the rest of us. You are all true mentors and friends.

To all of you who taught — thank you for sharing your experience in class. I am sure I speak for all of us when I say how great the classes were and just how much we learned from all of you. You make the rest of us better hygienists and give us the incentive and motivation to take our careers in new and different directions. I just wish I could have taken each and every class, and I am sure everyone feels that way.

I also thank Hu-Friedy for the great tour of their factory, and for providing the terrific food, music, and goody bags. I know everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. It was very informative and interesting to see all of the hard work that is put into making the instruments I have used for more than 27 years. It is amazing that they continue to make so many instruments by hand. It was so great to finally meet Danielle and Steve, and thank you both for taking your personal time to be there for all of us. Thank you to all of the Hu-Friedy employees as well, who gave up much of their Friday evening to come into work for all of us, so we could see exactly how the instruments are made, first hand.

A special thank you to Mark Hartley and PennWell for putting together such a terrific event! I cannot imagine all of the hard work you put in day after day to have everything run so smoothly. It is wonderful to feel the support you give to all of us in this profession. If it were not for you, and the wonderful magazines you put together to help teach and inform all of us, we would not be where we are today. I know we can never thank you enough for doing all that you do.

And where would any of us be without our sponsors? It is to all of you, the wonderful companies and the people behind those companies that make the products we use and recommend day in and day out, that we owe a large debt of gratitude as well. Thank you for supporting us, believing in us, and continuing to think of us as you make the products that give us the ability to perform our jobs, day after day. Our hats are off to you.

Thank you also to the cast and behind-the-scenes crew of the Wrap-Up session: All that Jazz. You kept us all laughing and were quite entertaining. I can see some new acting careers being launched after this.

And a very special thank you to Dr. Esther Wilkins. I know you made this event extra special for all of us by being there. You have given us the knowledge and desire to succeed in our careers and to continue pushing forward day after day. Meeting you was the highlight of my career as I am sure it was for many others. Thank you for all that you do for all of us.

I could spend another few hours saying thank you to all of you who made UOR the successful and wonderful event that it was. There truly are not enough words to convey the feelings that were shared this weekend. And to those of you who could not attend, know just how much you were missed. I begin a new week with more energy and enthusiasm for this career thanks to all of you.
