American Dental Association New Dentist Conference Honors Achievements in Dentistry

The ADA New Dentist Committee honored dentists for their achievements at the American Dental Association (ADA) 26th New Dentist Conference in Washington, D.C., this summer.

CHICAGO, Aug. 21, 2012 – The ADA New Dentist Committee honored dentists for their achievements at the American Dental Association (ADA) 26th New Dentist Conference in Washington, D.C., this summer. The ADA New Dentist Committee awards dentists and state new dentist committees for excellence in programming and overall achievement in supporting dentists who graduated from dental school less than 10 years ago.

The honorees were:

  • Dr. C. Brad Adams, North Carolina Dental Society, who received the Golden Apple Award for New Dentist Leadership for organizing and leading a number of popular social and educational programs for students and new dentists as chair of his local new dentist committee.
  • Dr. David M. White, Nevada Dental Association, who received the Golden Apple Award for Outstanding Leadership in Mentoring for a variety of activities including urging the University of Nevada-Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine and the University of Nevada-Reno's Pre-Dental Society to create an early-admission program to identify gifted students who would stay in Nevada to pursue their education.
  • Dr. Ross A. Bennett, Missouri Dental Association, who received the Golden Apple Award for New Dentist Legislative Leadership for his political activities on behalf of dentists as president of the Southeast Dental Society.

In addition, the Colorado New Dentist Committee earned the New Dentist Committee Outstanding Program Award of Excellence for its "Surviving the First Ten Years" practice management lecture series, and the Arkansas State Dental Association earned the Outstanding New Dentist Committee Award for engaging new dentists through programs and activities.

More than 260 participants from across the country networked and honed their leadership, clinical, and practice management skills at the New Dentist Conference in June.
