NEW YORK, New York--While snakes, spiders and heights are considered among the most common fears in America, but dental phobia also breeds high anxiety for many.

So Top Dentists, a source of dentistry information and the local providers, aims to take the fear out of going to the dentist. Everyday Health's Top Dentists has launched an "America's Top Dentists" survey in which dental professionals--including general dentists, orthodontists, prosthodontists, periodontists, and oral and maxillofacial surgeons--can be nominated by peers and patients.

By the end of 2012, Top Dentists plans to release the survey results by naming one dentist from each of the top 100 U.S. designated market areas as a "Top Dentist." The survey, tabulated by an independent, third-party research company, is open through the end of September 2012 at http://betasurvey.com/TopDentists/C3/.

More information about the survey can be found at www.topdentists.com/americas-top-dentists.

"America's Top Dentist" winners will be announced by Top Dentists. Each of America's Top Dentist honorees will be highlighted in an editorial feature, and receive a prize package valued at $10,000 to include an office plaque, website badges, and winners' profile features on the site.

"With the belief that everyone deserves the very best in dental care, Top Dentists strives to make the often stressful experience of selecting a new dental professional a more pleasant one by highlighting the outstanding work of America's top 100 dentists and inspiring all dental patients to seek out their services and expertise," said David Siegel, senior vice president and general manager of Everyday Health, Local Division.
