Despite the reactions your patients may have when you tell them the unfortunate news that they need a root canal, they have a higher opinion of the zenith of unpleasant dental experiences than they do of Congress.
That’s right – according to a Public Policy poll, Congress is now less popular than not only root canals, but NFL replacement referees, head lice, the rock band Nickelback, colonoscopies, Donald Trump, and Brussel sprouts.
It’s not so bad though. Congress is still held in higher regard than the Kardashians, North Korea, and gonorrhea, so at least they’ve got that going for them.
Women and Democrats hold a slightly more favorable view of Congress than men and Republicans, respectively.
“We all know Congress is unpopular,” said Dean Debnam, president of Public Policy Polling. “But the fact that voters like it even less than cockroaches, lice, and Genghis Khan really shows how far its esteem has fallen with the American public over the last few weeks.”
PPP polled 830 American voters from January 3 through 6. The margin of error is +/-3.4 percentage points.
