Enhancements affect older methods of radiography.

OREM, Utah—Aribex, a leader in handheld X-ray technologies and manufacturer of the NOMAD Pro handheld X-ray system, has announced launch of the NOMAD Pro 2 into the U.S. dental and veterinary markets.

The Pro 2 will replace the Pro in the U.S., a popular intraoral X-ray device. The Pro 2 is more durable and reliable.

“The NOMAD Pro 2 is exactly what our customers want,” said Ken Kaufman, general manager of Aribex. “We asked our customers how we could improve our marquee product. We carefully listened, designed prototypes, asked for feedback, and incorporated their requests. The end result of all of that hard work is the NOMAD Pro 2. It is simply the world’s best handheld X-ray system yet.” The Pro 2’s newly designed battery handset, with infrared connectors together with a new charging cradle, improves the system’s durability and boosts battery performance. For dental practitioners, education and research luminaries, and humanitarian heroes who use the NOMAD line of products, the Pro 2 is a step to reinforce the dental community’s view of the NOMAD as a disruptive technology and resource for providing access to care safely with every use.

“One consistent comment we heard from our customers focused on the charging station,” said Kaufman.

“Our engineers spent many hours working with customers in a redesign of the cradle. The new cradle is a big improvement, and our customers will agree. Durability is further enhanced by a re-engineered user interface that is more scratch and moisture resistant. The operatory environment can be hard on equipment, more so with our products that are easily carried from operatory to operatory. The NOMAD Pro 2 will stand up to repetitive antiseptic and cross-contamination control.”

The NOMAD Pro 2 is not a new product.

“We kept all of the great features of the Pro and incorporated them into the Pro 2,” Kaufman said. “Our customers love the lightweight design and its over-the-top ease-of-use. They love to buy one NOMAD to cover multiple operatories. They love using the most state-of-the-art technology that works with digital, phosphor, and film receptors. They especially enjoy taking it anywhere they need to go.”

The Pro 2 weighs just 5.5 lbs/2.5 kg for easy use and delivers a lower-dosage exposure than some wall-mounted systems. Aribex continues to use its proprietary shielding compound and backscatter shield to render the NOMAD just as safe--and in some instances--safer than traditional wall-hung intraoral X-ray devices as validated by more than 30 independent studies and evaluations.

For existing practices with aging equipment that needs to be replaced, the NOMAD Pro 2 is a value-added option.

“Even if an office needs to replace just one wall-mounted intra-oral device, the NOMAD opens up opportunities to improve the entire operatory workflow, not to mention the long-term solution it provides for future replacement needs,” Kaufman said.

"What we’re seeing is a sophisticated paradigm shift, or even a complete evolution, to the new and improved way of taking intraoral radiographs. We feel fortunate to be a leader in this movement with almost 12,000 devices now in use. We look forward to showing dental professionals throughout the U.S. how the NOMAD Pro 2 enhancements will further evolve intraoral imaging.”
