You can’t see it or hear it, but I am clapping right now. I’m sending a round of applause to each of you who has helped with our annual salary survey. As I write this on the morning of July 24, 775 of you have taken the time to answer our survey. I can’t thank you enough. Of course, I want more (hey, who doesn’t?). I’m looking to hit the magical number of 1,000 this year … and we can’t do that without your help.

As of this moment, the majority of salary responses are falling into the $18 to $20 hourly range. Is that where you fit in … or not? We’ve also had a fair share of people say they make more than $30 an hour. Is that you … or not? Take a few moments and let us know.
Also, I’m asking each survey participant to tell me his or her thoughts on the state of the dental assisting profession. I absolutely love to read what you say and what you’re thinking. It helps me know what is really “going on” in the profession.
One of my favorite pieces of feedback so far this year is very simple, yet profound.
“As long as there is good training and people willing to work hard, then the profession can last. But if there are people willing to just get by, then the profession might suffer.”
This is true in dental assisting. This is true in any profession. The more you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it.
