Brooklyn dentist Dr. Isaak Grinman has been accused by a former employee of watching movies and napping in his office while a college student studying to become a dental hygienist performed surgeries and other dental procedures on unsuspecting patients. The former employee states that the assistant performed procedures such as root canals, fillings, and drillings. The former employee further claims that this outrageous conduct had been occurring since 2010. In addition to being AWOL at the office, Grinman also would frequently leave the office to spend time with his wife and took lengthy vacations. Grinman even would not take the time to complete a continuing education course, instead dispatching his wife to sign him in to the class. The former employee was fired after confronting his boss about his unethical habits—including instructing the assistant to perform unnecessary root canals and false billing of Medicaid and other private healthcare plans.
