The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recently released the results of their study on the subject of oral cancer screenings.
The task force concluded that "the current evidence is insufficient to assess the balance of benefits and harms of screening for oral cancer in asymptomatic adults."
A clinical summary of the study includes a list of potential list factors — the most common of which are tobacco and alcohol use — as well as a brief summary of the nature of an oral cancer screening and the treatment for oral cancer.
