Ask Dr. Christensen: Incremental treatment with removable partial dentures

Dec. 9, 2013
Most dental patients cannot afford the cost all at once

Dr. Gordon Christensen answers questions from readers and offers his answers based on research, dentists' opinions worldwide, and personal observation.

Most patients cannot afford the $5,000 to $15,000 it costs to replace a lot of teeth. How about taking a removable partial denture and placing a couple of implants in the first year, and a couple the second year. Then have the patient save up for a couple of more years and place fixed partial dentures over those. Accomplishing the treatment incrementally will allow more patients to have the necessary treatment in an approach they can afford.
