Scaling: How long does it really take?

Feb. 25, 2014
There are many vital elements of a dental hygiene visit. As you know, ideal continuing care includes much more than a simple “cleaning.” Regardless of whether there are multiple hygienists in one practice or a solo dental hygienist, we all are curious how long it takes our contemporaries to perform certain activities and tasks.

Please complete the “Vital Elements of the Ideal Hygiene Visit” survey.

Each survey question is an activity performed in an "average" continuing care hygiene visit (not necessarily a periodontal appointment) and cannot be skipped. If you do not perform all the procedures at every continuing care visit, please record the amount of time it takes when you DO perform the activity. In addition, you may not perform some of the activities (such as blood pressure). In those cases, then please write in “0 mins.”

Let's begin to create together realistic data on "activity time" during a continuing care appointment.
