Welcome to the March 2014 issue of RDH Graduate. It is my honor and pleasure to start off the second year of its publication as the new editorial director.
Welcome to the March 2014 issue of RDH Graduate. It is my honor and pleasure to start off the second year of its publication as the new editorial director. As an assistant professor at Hostos Community College and a hygienist in a multi-specialty practice in Staten Island, I see every day the challenges that face you as students and new hygienists and the rewards of being a devoted healthcare professional, and I hope to bring my many experiences to this newsletter to better serve you.

Six tips on how to be a successful hygienist

“The secret to success is to be ready when your opportunity comes.” I have found this quote by Benjamin Disraeli to ring very true in every facet of life. As the new RDH Graduate editorial director, I am grateful for the opportunity to use my clinical and educational experience to guide and support the next generation of dental hygienists. Dental hygiene has provided me with great rewards — beyond the monetary. In addition to providing information regarding clinical practice, it is my hope to inspire you, through RDH Graduate, to follow your intuition and passion. By doing so, you will advance the profession and, most importantly, use your vast skills and knowledge to care for those who need it most.

Let’s get started!
