“For decades, Dr. Bennett has shown an unwavering commitment to helping dentists learn to effectively treat obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy, and she has a deep dedication to developing collaborative care relationships between dentists and sleep physicians,” said AADSM Past President B. The AADSM is the leading organization in the United States for dentists who treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy, an effective alternative treatment to the standard continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine and mask. Currently, the AADSM is the only nonprofit, national professional society dedicated exclusively to the practice of dental sleep medicine.
“I’ve worked diligently to teach and grow our field’s knowledge of airway evaluation and oral appliance therapy, and I’m thrilled to lead the nation’s foremost dental sleep medicine organization,” said Bennett. “As president, I will continue to promote dentistry’s role in collaboration with our physician colleagues to effectively treat patients with snoring and sleep apnea.”
Dr. Bennett has more than 30 years of experience in private practice restorative dentistry, and she currently has a practice focusing exclusively on oral appliance therapy. She recently became credentialed in the department of internal medicine at the University of Cincinnati (UC) West Chester Hospital Sleep Medicine Center, and she is affiliated with the UC Sleep Medicine fellowship program. Dr. Bennett served as the Program Committee Chair for the AADSM 16th Annual Meeting in 2007 and was a director of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM) from 2012 to 2014. She is a graduate of Georgetown University and SUNY Buffalo Dental School.
