Reminder: Everything doesn’t have to be the way it is

Aug. 27, 2014
I just recently returned from Chicago, where I attended my very first RDH Under One Roof convention.

I just recently returned from Chicago, where I attended my very first RDH Under One Roof convention. I had heard wonderful things about UOR and was excited to participate. I was expecting a lot, as is my nature, and my expectations were exceeded. I came back with a renewed enthusiasm and appreciation for dental hygiene and dental hygienists. This is due, in part, to Canadians (Leaders of the Pack, as I have affectionately named them) and humanitarians. I’ll tell you all about it next month.

In this month’s newsletter we’re bringing you inspiration, legislation, guidance, and career advice that is, like its author, anything but typical. Everything doesn’t have to be the way it is. In fact, progress only comes when we get rid of old ways of thinking. Those of you who are heading back to school this month: I feel your pain! As an assistant professor at Hostos Community College in New York, I have spent a great part of the summer reading, writing, and preparing. But I’m ready!

Those of you who graduated in the spring and took your boards have received your licenses by now. WELCOME. My colleagues and I take great pleasure in seeing you accomplish your goals and even greater pleasure in seeing what you do next. Can’t stop, won’t stop.

As always, we’re looking to provide you with the stories and information you want to see. In the coming months you’ll hear of new technologies that are becoming commonplace. The more you know, the better you’ll be at everything. Never hesitate to email me with requests, ideas, articles you have written, or even to just say “hey.” I’m here.
