Ask Dr. Christensen: Are direct resin veneers as reliable as ceramic veneers?

Feb. 6, 2015
Dr. Gordon Christensen answers questions from dentists regarding the challenges of everyday practice.

Most dentists will admit that ceramic veneers done properly will last patients longer. On the other hand, some patients cannot afford them, so direct resin veneers may be the way to go. They are easier to place, less expensive, and if done properly, can last 10 years or longer. Also, if there are any minor failures they can often be salvaged.

To conclude, Dr. Christensen says that ceramic veneers have greater longevity, but resin veneers definitely have a place in your practice, especially in economic downtimes.
