Sirona, a manufacturer of dental technology, announced this week that the company’s Cerec Omnicam and new Cerec Ortho software can be used to submit digital impressions for Invisalign clear aligner therapy.

“We are delighted to be able to offer Invisalign digital impression submission to our family of orthodontic applications for our Omnicam users and the dental community. For over 30 years, Sirona has been leading dentistry into a digital era, and this expanded offering will help expedite the adoption of technology by general practitioners and orthodontists, a new market segment for us,” commented Jeffrey T. Slovin, the president and CEO of Sirona.

The new Ortho 1.1 software features a patent-pending guided scanning process and connects Cerec with Invisalign treatment by allowing seamless digital impression submission. The new software, exclusive for Cerec Omnicam systems, will be available in select markets by summer 2015.

“Through expanded offerings such as this one, we are bolstering our strategy to deliver best-in-class products and customer support for dental professionals. We believe that this strategy combined with our continuous innovation will drive penetration of digital dentistry and will deliver increasing shareholder value,” continued Slovin.
