Bien-Air to launch new high-speed handpiece, contra-angle handpiece, and micromotor control unit during CDA Presents in Anaheim

Bien-Air Dental S.A., a Swiss medical technologies company, has announced the upcoming U.S. launch of a high-speed handpiece, the Tornado; a contra-angle handpiece, Evo.15; and a micromotor control unit, the Optima MCX.

Bien-Air Dental S.A., a Swiss medical technologies company, has announced the upcoming U.S. launch of a high-speed handpiece, the Tornado; a contra-angle handpiece, Evo.15; and a micromotor control unit, the Optima MCX. All three products will be released in the United States on April 30, during the CDA Presents meeting in Anaheim, California.

The Tornado high-speed handpiece
The Tornado high-speed handpiece delivers a power output of 30 watts. Operating at a 55-decibel sound level, the Tornado combines performance with user and patient comfort. The Tornado features a new spray/illumination system and an improved bur-locking mechanism.

“The Tornado sets a new reference in the category,” said Marco Gallina, the vice president of marketing and product management for Bien-Air Dental. “It helps alleviate the [No.] 1 dentist concern—lack of time—while promising users the level of quality and reliability they have come to expect from our company.”

“These innovations come to complement some of our technologies that have proven most effective over the years,” Gallina pointed out. “And to guarantee superior durability, the Tornado is fitted with custom-designed ceramic ball bearings, capable of handling the highest speed and heaviest loads.”

The Evo.15 contra-angle electric handpiece
The Evo.15 handpiece collection was developed in response to public health authorities’ growing concern over patient burns caused by electric dental handpieces. In procedures making use of electric handpieces, the briefest 12-newton contact between the instrument’s push button and the patient’s inner cheek can cause the former to overheat, which can result in burn injuries.

“While overheating can be an indication of a damaged or clogged instrument, laboratory evaluations reveal that this hazard is just as prevalent in new and properly maintained handpieces,” said Clémentine Favre, the laboratory and validation manager for Evo.15. She went on to specify that, in the most severe cases, handpieces can cause third-degree burns requiring reconstructive surgery and thereby likely subjecting the practitioner to legal consequences.

Equipped with patented CoolTouch+ heat-arresting technology, Evo.15 has been proven never to exceed human body temperature. Additionally, Evo.15 features a considerably smaller and lighter shockproof head, a new spray/illumination system, and an improved bur-locking system.

The Optima MCX micromotor control unit
Composed of a tabletop control unit and Bien-Air’s MCX brushless micromotor, the Optima gives dental professionals the option to upgrade their units with electric-driven technology at an affordable cost. The MCX’s elevated power and constant torque authorize swift and effortless procedures.

“When used with Micro-Series instruments, this micromotor/instrument assembly is shorter than a turbine and allows for optimal balance and reduced hand fatigue,” said Product Manager Stefano Besio. Expanding on the notion of convenience, “maintenance is unnecessary as the MCX’s ball bearings are greased for life.”
