Image Navigation (New York, New York) is proud to announce the first sale of its new augmented-reality dental training simulator, the DentSim v5.0. The School of Dentistry and Oral Health at Griffith University (Gold Coast, Australia) has agreed to purchase eight DentSim v5.0 units for its pre-clinical simulation center. Griffith selected the DentSim v5.0 after examining other systems and determining that DentSim meets the needs of its students. The Advanced Simulation Lab at Griffith University will open during the summer of 2015. All students will learn and sharpen fundamental skills of operative dentistry in this state-of-the-art lab.

Lawrence Obstfeld, CEO of Image Navigation, stated, “We are pleased to welcome Griffith University to the group of leading worldwide dental schools who have selected DentSim by Image Navigation as their simulator. We are dedicated to working with our customers to continually improve DentSim. This enables schools like Griffith to view us as a valued partner in the education of future dentists.”

“After a review of the available educational technologies, we have selected DentSim for our advanced simulation lab. DentSim will enable us to efficiently deploy protocols of learning and skill acquisition that we have discovered in our research,” said Ward Massey, dean and discipline lead of operative dentistry at the School of Dentistry and Oral Health at Griffith University.

Skills acquisition research conducted at Griffith University and other research conducted using DentSim demonstrate educational advantages associated with the practice of skills as well as from the practice of complete preparations. The Advanced Simulation Lab will be an integral part of the skills acquisition research at The School of Dentistry and Oral Health at Griffith University.

DentSim v5.0 is the latest version of the industry-leading augmented-reality dental simulator. Driven by its GPS camera and innovative 3D evaluation software, DentSim improves quality and speed of skill acquisition, and enables a superior learning curve by combining physical typodont training with instant feedback.
