Ask Dr. Christensen: Are complete dentures without implants still state-of-the-art?

July 9, 2015
Dr. Gordon Christensen readily shares his clinical knowledge with his peers. In this video, he determines that dentures coupled with implants are what he now recommends for his edentulous patients.

In this week's video, Dr. Christensen acknowledges how much dentists like dentures, but what about patients? Do they like their dentures? He shows two denture examples and asks what can be done to improve them.

He then flips the dentures over to reveal implants, which he says can transform "a pitiful, pathetic piece of plactic that flips out whenever a patient tries to eat, to something that stays in, is stable, and is supported."

The use of implants with complete dentures when the ridge is quite resorbed has become Dr. Christensen’s primary treatment plan for edentulous patients. Watch the video to learn more.
