Firefly, Dr. Fresh donate $25,000 to Oral Health America
Dr. Fresh, LLC, announces a partnership between its popular Firefly kids toothbrush brand and Oral Health America.
Buena Park, CA -- Dr. Fresh, LLC, announced a special partnership between its popular Firefly kids toothbrush brand and Oral Health America (OHA). The partnership will promote regular tooth brushing through accessibility and fun while benefitting OHA’s Smiles Across America (SAA) program.
Firefly will donate $25,000 and thousands of Firefly Light-Up Timer toothbrushes to at-risk children. The joint effort will help broaden access to school-based dental services offered by SAA partners.
The partnership will kick off on February 6, 2014, in recognition of National Children’s Dental Health Month. Students at Pershing School in Berwyn, IL, a western suburb of Chicago, will take part in a special brush-a-thon event. The school is part of the Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society’s Children’s Clinic dental services program. Dignitaries invited to attend include Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, State Senator Kimberly Lightford, and State Dental Director Dr. David Miller. Marking the occasion will be the delivery of the first 25,000 light-up timer toothbrushes to be donated by Firefly.
SAA increases access to dental services in school-based and school-linked settings for children who are most at risk for developing dental disease. SAA identifies promising local community efforts like those of the Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society Children’s Clinic and supports the development and expansion of programs with an emphasis on prevention.
“Firefly is addressing a key component of prevention by providing access to quality toothbrushes and making tooth brushing a fun and anticipated part of the day, not to mention a lifelong good habit,” said Beth Truett, President and CEO of Oral Health America. “As an SAA sponsor, the brand supports our overall efforts to help 400,000 children receive much needed oral care annually.”
Inadequate or rushed brushing is a major cause of tooth decay, the most common chronic disease occurring in American children.
Firefly's light-up timer toothbrushes flash for one minute – the amount of time dentists say is necessary to thoroughly brush one row of teeth, top or bottom. Firefly partners with top licenses like Angry Birds, Hello Kitty, and Marvel.
“We are proud to support the efforts of Oral Health America and its wonderful partners who make such a difference for children and families,” said Doug Corbett, CEO, Dr. Fresh LLC. “Together, we can make tooth brushing accessible, fun and a healthy routine for more and more children every year.”
