Baird’s March survey: A mixed bag

During the second week of March, the Baird Equity Research Medical Technology Dental Survey was sent to 100 dentists and dental practitioners.

They found that patient volumes had contracted 3.3% since February. (This marked the seventh month in a row that patient volume findings were negative.) However, patient volumes for the first quarter as a whole are in line with last quarter volumes from 2013.

Weather is said to be the culprit for the first quarter’s monthly trends, as January proved to be strong while February was disappointing. March was a rebound month.

And while dentists spending outlook on dental equipment “remains cautious,” in-office CAD/CAM looks encouraging.
