RDH eVillage 2010 salary survey part 4

Nov. 9, 2010
The fourth part of the RDH eVillage/RDH magazine salary survey examines job security issues such as number of dental hygiene school graduates, pay raises, and the financial health of dental practices.
As reported in the first part of the RDH eVillage salary survey, 70% of dental hygienists in the United States feel like the economy has “affected their ability to earn the maximum income pursued.”The fourth part of this series of articles expands on this on a state-by-state basis. How do dental hygienists view the financial health of their doctors’ practices? Are there too many fellow dental hygienists vying for jobs in a hygienist’s neighborhood? Finally, how about a raise? Recession or not, many hygienists are concerned about the frequency of pay raises. The second part of this series of articles, by the way, addressed hourly rates and daily rates in all 50 states. You can view the article by clicking here. The third part focused on salary information in the larger metropolitan areas, which can be viewed by clicking here. With the exception of the questions regarding the frequency of pay raises, the questions discussed in this article solicited subjective opinions from dental hygienists about their careers and employers. With that in mind, the statistics below included only states with more than 10 responses. This means the statistics for Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming do not appear below.Alabama
