What Maine dental therapists are expected to do in preparation
- Attain an additional 1.5 to 2 years of education
- Complete 1,000 clinical hours
- Pass a clinical examination approved by the Board of Dental Examiners
- Licensed dental hygiene therapists can perform both preventive and routine restorative dental care, such as filling cavities
- Practice under the direct supervision of a dentist
