Thoughts from the ADAA

March 1, 2003
It's a pleasure to tell you about the American Dental Assistants Association the professional organization that represents all dental assistants: business office, general chairside, specialty chairside, educator, sales representative, or insurance personnel.

Dear Prospective Member:

It's a pleasure to tell you about the American Dental Assistants Association — the professional organization that represents all dental assistants: business office, general chairside, specialty chairside, educator, sales representative, or insurance personnel.

For more than 75 years, the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) has served those who want to grow professionally.

Now more than ever, we need each other. Most of us don't have the time or resources in our personal lives to evaluate the quality or advantages of services and education, so ADAA does it for us:

  • The Dental Assistant Journal published six times annually with free C.E. credits for members
  • Posting of your resumé on the Internet to help put you in touch with prospective employers
  • Dental assisting professional liability insurance, and $2,000 in accidental death and dismemberment insurance, both free with your membership
  • Access to group insurance programs such as major medical, disability, and term life. Available in most states to those qualified
  • Member discounts on home-study educational materials and ADAA seminars, free grading of exams (non-members pay)
  • Credit card programs to those qualified which can include member loans
  • Discounts on hotels, car rentals, and our official travel agency

But the best advantages and opportunities are intangible — such as the value of interaction and support of colleagues, exchange of ideas in state and local ADAA organizations, building self-confidence, and professional awareness which enhances your future.

Please take the time to read about ADAA and its programs. I'm confident that you'll join us — the people who make dental assisting a profession.

And, as a gift to all who join, I'll send our ADAA golden member logo pin — a small gift to thank you for helping to make us a successful professional organization.

During March, Deduct $20 in Honor of DARW. Stick with us. We're going places!

Fellowship in the ADAA

Thousands of dental assisting professionals have proven their skill and dedication through earning the Certified Dental Assistant or Registered Dental Assistant credential. Now, ADAA is offering Fellowship, a challenging path to:

  • Increased value to your patients and practice
  • Enhanced confidence in your dental assisting capabilities
  • Public recognition of professional achievement
  • Increased professional status
  • Satisfaction of increased education
  • Building self-esteem

In order to become a Fellow of the ADAA, a dental assistant must have three consecutive years of ADAA Active membership immediately prior to application for receipt of the Fellowship Award, and must accrue 300 hours of continuing education credit after enrolling in the program.

Those who are already Certified Dental Assistants are halfway to achieving Fellowship, and will automatically receive 150 hours of credit upon enrolling. (Exception: CDPMA earns 100 points.) Those holding Registered Dental Assistant status from a state may apply for RDA credit which will be awarded on a state-by-state basis according to established criteria.

And, you can enroll in this terrific program for a fee of only $40. For full details and an enrollment form, call or write:
