ROCHESTER, Michigan--Great Expressions Dental Center, has donated an X-ray system to Leader Dogs for the Blind.

The EVA Vet device was presented to the Leader Dogs for the Blind school on May 4 by Richard Beckman, Chief Executive Officer for Great Expression Dental Centers.

EVA Vet is a filmless, digital dental imaging radiology system that produces high resolution, diagnostic quality images. Images are digitized and transmitted to a desktop computer via a standard USB (Universal Serial Bus) port and is compatible with laptop or desktop systems.

Leader Dogs for the Blind provides trained dogs to lead the blind and the visually impaired at no cost to the recipient. A fully equipped veterinary clinic is on-site to provide health care to the dogs in training, as well as puppies and breeding dogs. Local graduates of Leader Dogs for the Blind are also offered veterinary care. Dental care and evaluation is part of the comprehensive health care plan the dogs receive.

The EVA is an easy-to-use digital imaging process that eliminates the inconvenience of film processing, chemical contact, and limits the need for repeated radiation exposure.

According to Dr. Dave Smith Director Canine Health Services for Leader Dogs for the Blind, "The new digital dental x-ray system will allow us to minimize staff and patient radiation exposure while increasing the quality of the x-ray image. We are very excited about the enhanced dental care that this system will allow us to provide for our Leader Dogs and very happy that Great Expressions Dental Centers donated the equipment."

Great Expressions Dental Centers learned about the tremendous work done by the Leader Dogs for the Blind organization from Dr. Dave Smith. Great Expressions understands that all the services for the blind are done on a no charge basis by the organization and that there was a critical need to have state-of-the-art dental equipment to treat Leader Dogs' dental health.

As one of the largest providers of dental health services in the United States, Great Expressions Dental Centers stresses the importance of good dental health to the overall well being of their patients.

Richard Beckman, chief executive officer for Great Expressions Dental Centers, said, "We are pleased that we could donate this state-of-the-art digital vision equipment to assist Leader Dogs for the Blind in the diagnosis and prevention of dental diseases in their dogs and look forward to continued involvement with the organization."
