We all have had difficult areas in which we need to control bleeding, whether for restorative needs, tissue management, or periodontal treatment. Enter ViscoStat by Ultradent, a 20 percent ferric sulfate hemostatic, multipurpose solution with a pH ~1.0. This product is unique in that it is suited for both hard and soft tissue. Various indications include impressioning, preparation scrubbing, subgingival bleeding, vital pulpotomies, and even retrofills. This solution is delivered via a syringe tip and also a Dento-Infusor that is a sponged tip used for scrubbing. ViscoStat is a must in the armamentarium for the contemporary dentist.

SensiTemp® Resin ...

One of the biggest oxymorons in dentistry is a temporary cement. Dentists want strength, yet ease of removal. Go figure! One such product that answers well to this is SensiTemp® Resin from Sultan Chemists. This provisional adhesive contains potassium nitrate for decreased sensitivity and is offered in eugenol, noneugenol, and resin noneugenol formulations. My assistants and I specifically like the handheld automix syringe that delivers an easy flow into the provisional with minimal waste, mess, and ease of clean-up.

This is an amide-based anesthetic, color-coded for easy identification, with a quick onset of one to six minutes. Zorcaine can be used for both local infiltration and nerve block procedures.

Septodont Petite ...

In dental school, when I first saw a dental syringe, I wondered how it would fit in my hand, let alone in a patient’s mouth. We have come a long way, because now there is a syringe that fits a smaller hand - Septodont Petite from Septodont. This self-aspirating syringe is not only shorter, lightweight, and more compact, but it balances nicely and is much less assuming than its counterparts. I find it easier to engage the thumb ring and achieve better injecting control, while not worrying about any components loosening or unscrewing. Easy to load and sterilize, this winner is a welcome addition to your patient care lineup.
