Regis College bails out dental hygiene students stranded at Mount Ida
Regis College announced in a statement that it would continue the dental hygiene program that was disbanded by the sale of Mount Ida College by the University of Massachusetts.
The statement said Regis College would also enroll first-year dental students for the Fall 2018 semester. The dental hygiene program would use the Mount Ida campus for the “next academic year,” according to Antoinette Hays, PhD, RN, president of Regis College.
Hays said, “We are delighted to be able to continue these superb programs as part of Regis’ portfolio of health science programs. “We are grateful to UMass for allowing us to use the Mount Ida campus facilities for the next academic year and we look forward to welcoming Mount Ida students, faculty and staff.”

The sale of Mount Ida in April became a controversy in Boston area politics, but dental hygiene students and faculty were left scrambling for schools and jobs.
