"What is the difference between a 'regular' cleaning, a root-planing, and periodontal maintenance?" The high-quality, eight-panel, full-color, and glossy brochure is designed to help patients understand the important differences between a standard adult prophy, a root-planing procedure, and a periodontal maintenance procedure.

Problems concerning patient perceptions about these treatments are prevalent. It is reported that patient complaints to state dental boards are increasing due to confusion about the procedures, frequency and time required, costs, and insurance coverage.

The brochure covers all of these topics in easy-to-understand, patient-friendly terms. It is written by Carol Tekavec, RDH, a nationally known columnist for Dental Economics.

The cost is $35 for 50 brochures. UPS shipping is additional. The brochure may be viewed at or call (800) 548-2164 for a catalog.
