A Michigan State University surgeon has teamed up with a dental benefits firm in Lansing, Mich., on a clinical trial to create a simple, saliva test to detect oral cancer. This breakthrough would dramatically improve screening and result in fewer lost lives.
According to an article in ScienceDaily, "The test also has the potential to accelerate health care savings, ... since the number of biopsies can be dramatically reduced."
